Service Description:Highmore Hedgehogs Nursery has been part of the community in the Bobblestock / Westfields area of Hereford since May 2000. As a registered charity we are a non-profit making Nursery and are committed to providing high quality childcare that is affordable for all families. Children can join from 18 months old until the age of 4 years 11 months with a maximum number of 30 children at each session. Parents and children are welcome to make an appointment to come and have a look around at any time to see what we have to offer.
Our large, bright and airy playroom offers children plenty of space to play, learn and explore, with a smaller room offering opportunities for focused activities or quiet time in smaller groups. A wide range of activities, toys and resources are available throughout each session and children have the opportunity to make their own choices about what to play with. Play and learning takes place both indoors and outside, with staff on hand to support and encourage play and learning either by joining in, adding to resources, or observing to identify the next steps for each child’s learning. With a free flow system of play children can access the large patio and garden area freely throughout the day and in all weathers, providing lots of opportunities for exploring and investigating in the natural environment. The garden has beautiful open views over Hereford racecourse.
Children’s progress and development is recorded using an online learning journal that parents can add to, and this can only be accessed by the individual child’s parents. We liaise with other agencies that may be involved with your child including SaLT, Health Visiting Team and the Child Development Centre.
Our staff team all hold a minimum Level 3 Childcare qualification, and the three senior members of staff have a Foundation Degree in Early Years. We encourage continuous professional development for all our staff, and all hold current Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid certificates.
At Highmore Hedgehogs we follow a conflict resolution approach to behaviour. We believe in promoting positive behaviour through encouragement and support and teach children how to identify and resolve conflict with adult support and then independently.
